Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers, or PRSPs, are intended to be documents prepared by governments through a participatory process involving civil society and development partners, including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, as part of an attempt by the World Bank and the IMF to base all of their lending decisions on nationally owned participatory poverty reduction strategies. The papers describe a given country’s macro‐economic, structural, and social policies and programmes to promote growth and reduce poverty, as well as associated external financing needs.
