Matthijs van den Bos

Matthijs van den Bos is a lecturer in international studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. He has anthropology/sociology and Iranian studies backgrounds and has previously published on topics such as Shiite Sufi orders in Iran (for example, Mystic Regimes: Sufism and the State in Iran, from the Late Qajar Era to the Islamic Republic (Leiden: Brill, 2002), Dutch–Iranian transnational networks, post-migrancy and new media usage (for example, ‘Hyperlinked Dutch–Iranian cyberspace’, International Sociology 21(1), 2006, pp. 83–99) and Shiism in Europe (for example, ‘European Shiism? Counterpoints from Shiites’ organization in Britain and the Netherlands’, Ethnicities 12(5), 2012, pp. 556–580).
