Abstract
This Audit Commission report has been eagerly awaited. The Commission is an extremely influential and prestigious body and previous reports have quite literally determined government policy with regard to services for people with mental health problems. Is this report going to have the same kind of influence? If so, in what direction is it likely that policy will shift? Does it comprehensively address the key issues? Are there any major ingredients which appear to be missing from its analysis? Does it provide an adequate prescription for changing and improving services? These are the questions that will be addressed in this paper.
