Pages 119-132 | Published online: 28 Jul 2006

Abstract

This paper proposes a measure of value added in higher education based on the earning differentials between graduates and non-graduates. A Monerary measurement of value added is calculated for each different class of degree. This enables us: firstly, to estimate the social rate of return for different degree classes, and, secondly, proposes a monetary-based performance indicator which could be used in the porcess of allocating resources in higher education.
