Gerald T. Conaty PhD, LLD, the Associate Editor of Museum Management and Curatorship, passed away on August 25, 2013 after several years of living with cancer. Gerry was appointed Associate Editor in 2010 and was instrumental in maintaining the journal's high standards - with his editorial acumen and his tireless stewardship of the peer review process. He also served as Chair of the Best Paper Awards Jury, and provided wise and consistent counsel on the many complexities of scholarly publishing. The Editorial Board and staff of Museum Management and Curatorship salute his many contributions to the method and theory of museum practice, especially his pioneering work with Canada's First Nations. All of us at the journal will miss his keen intellect, his good humour and his many contributions to our work.
