The Conciliation Project Report: A Study of Non-Judicial Dispute Resolution in Family Cases

Abstract

In 1985 a Conciliation Project Unit was set up at the University of Newcastle. Funded by the Lord Chancellor's Department, its task was to submit a report to the Lord Chancellor which would enable him to decide

(a) whether a publicly funded national family conciliation service should be established; and

(b) if so, how such a service might best be organised and funded.
