Abstract

The purpose of this paper1 is to make an audit of all those points of interaction between the police and social services departments, through which the exchange of personal information takes place on a daily basis. An attempt is made to highlight the sub-cultural nature of these exchanges as well as the civil liberty implications, but it is suggested that, in future, we might usefully examine such exchanges in the light of a framework that draws on wider social theory.
