Abstract
This is an attempt to frame some ideas about the care and control of patients or residents within residential or nursing premises in the light of increasing use of electronic or other means, with some observations on the various philosophies involved and on the current state of the law in relation to the care of those thought to be lacking capacity to care for themselves.
