Abstract
During the six months of June to November 1997 the Ombudsman issued 84 reports on housing, education and social services matters. Of these, three were further reports, 67 were taken to full report and 14 were issued as discontinuation reports. This appears to be a fairly high percentage of discontinuation reports, and seems to indicate that councils are becoming more prepared to accept that they are at fault, and to provide adequate remedies, once the Ombudsman has become involved. The distribution of these discontinuation reports between housing, education and social services is indicated below.
