Is Clinical Audit Action Research?

Pages 415-421 | Published online: 11 Aug 2006

ABSTRACT

Since 1991 clinical audit has become an essential part of Health Service practice with local funding for projects in the United Kingdom. The process seems to be very similar to action research as it is based upon ‘the systematic peer evaluation of the quality of patient care’. This paper sets out to compare and contrast terms used in health and education to explore similarities that may provide opportunities for multiprofessional dialogue.
