Abstract
Methods of pest control (especially herbicides) in current use in China are discussed and some impressions are given of Chinese agriculture as seen on a recent visit. More than ten different chemicals were being used on one commune while, on another, two herbicides were manufactured as a rural industry. Biological control methods are in field use in some crops. The production of artificial fertilizers together with the use of herbicides and small machines is steadily increasing, enabling more local people to work in rural industries.
