Abstract
Propyzamide and chloropropham were found to be promising herbicides for effective control of Cuscuta infestations in the niger seed crop. Cuscuta seedlings were killed by early post-emergence application of chloropropham at 2.0 l a.i./ha and over 90% control was obtained when propyzamide was applied as a post-emergence spray at 1.5–2.0 kg a.i./ha 20–25 days after sowing. No phytotoxic effects on niger seed were observed with these rates and methods of application.
