Guidelines for the BreakThrough Scholars section of the journal

From 2019 we are delighted to offer a Free to Access Breakthrough Scholars section in the journal to enable new graduates a powerful and important opportunity to showcase their work. Papers submitted for this section undergo exactly the same rigorous peer review as other submissions to the journal.

Those Eligible to Submit

Students and new Graduates are eligible to submit as Breakthrough Scholars. You may be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree at any university worldwide. Work can be submitted for this section during your course of study or within one year of conferment. Collaborations will be accepted when all contributors fit either the criteria of registered student status or recent completion.

How to Submit

  • Authors should follow all instructions for submitting a peer-reviewed paper to Disability & Society

  • Pay careful attention to the Journal's policy on language and terminology

  • All papers must be uploaded as a Breakthrough Scholars submission in the ScholarOne system

  • The paper cannot be a straight reproduction of work produced for academic assessment and must connect with the history of ideas published in Disability & Society
