LEAPing the Cultural Barrier: life education comes to China

Pages 327-332 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

Life Education is a health-based drugs prevention education programme for primary school children which originated in Australia. One of the many challenges of bringing Life Education to Hong Kong was its cultural adaptability. The conversion of the programme into a culturally appropriate version for our Chinese students was achieved after much analysis discussion and liaison with various sectors of the community. Our experience has shown that we have been successful in bringing this theoretically sophisticated multi-modal skills based and creative programme to Hong Kong.
