Abstract

Effect of different nitrogen supplements and cultural conditions viz., pH, temperature and shaking on fungal protein production by Aspergillus terreus was investigated using alkali- treated bagasse as substrate. The efficiency in terms of bagasse degradation and protein production was maximum at pH 4.0 and temperature 30C with 5% (V/V) inoculum in submerged culture fermentation. Cornsteep liquor was found to be the best nitrogen supplement.
