Abstract

Flachowsky, G., Vanselow, G. and Schneider, A. 1993. Influence of nitrogen fertilization of wheat on in sacco dry matter degradability of wheat straw. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 3: 91–96.

Winter wheat of the varieties Astron and Borenos was fertilized with seven different nitrogen levek (50–215 kg N/ha). Cereals were harvested, threshed by a laboratory thresher and the straws were prepared for measurement of in sacco dry matter degradability in sheep. After 48 h rumen incubation the in sacco dry matter degradability (DMD) of straw of both varieties was about 57%. The highest N-level resulted in the highest DMD (59.3%), the other N-levels did not significantly influence DMD (52.8 to 59.1%) of siraw.
