Abstract

Nazer, A. H. K. and Yazdipour, A. 1993. Incidence of drug resistance of Escherichia coli isolated from selected foods. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 3: 123–128.

The antibiotic resistance patterns and the distribution of R-factor among E. coli isolated from selected but common Iranian food (Cheesej Oleviyeh Sandewiches, Kotlet Sandewiches and lce Cream) were studied. It was found that 81 strains (24.47 percent) of a total of 331 isolates were resistant to one or more drugs. Twenty three (28.39 percent) resistant strains were capable of transferring either apart or the entire resistance patterns to the sensitive recipient (E. coli K12) strain.
