Abstract

Batta, M.K., Joshi, V.B., Asrani, R.K., Sharma, M., Katoch, R.C. and Nagal, K.B. 1996. Chlamydia psittaci infections among migratory sheep and goats in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, India. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 9: 45–49.

A total of 149 migratory flocks of sheep and goats in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir were investigated for Chlamydia psittaci related diseases. Samples were collected and processed as per standard procedures. The isolates were confirmed as per Storz (1971). In sheep the organism could be isolated only from the cases of reproductive problems whereas, in goats, isolations were made from a variety of disease syndromes like abortions, metritis, enteritis and pneumonia. Chlamydiosis was found to be higher in goats than in sheep.
