Abstract

Maiti, S.K. and Singh, G.R. 1996. Recombined bone grafts and ceramic implants with bone marrow and plasma in goats: Gross and cross section study. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 10: 193–200.

Frozen decalcified allografts and ceramic implants (ALCAP) alone and in combination with autogenous bone marrow and citrated plasma, were implanted in experimentally created tibial defects in different groups in goats. Gross study was carried out after sacrificing the animals on d 90 post-implantation. Early osteogeneses were observed in recombined bone allografts followed by decalcified allografts alone than ceramic implants alone or in combination of bone marrow and plasma. Among the recombined grafts bone impregnated with marrow showed fastest healing. Bone marrow and citrated plasma did not contribute for osteogenesis in ceramic implants. Resorption of ceramic implants was very slow as compared to bone grafts.
