Abstract

Tadjalli, M. and Ziyaei, D. 1998. Histological studies on portal vein and its intrahepatic branching pattern in goat. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 13: 185–190.

Microscopic structure of portal vein and its intrahepatic branching was studied in 5 adult goats using routine histological and histochemical methods. Histologically, the walls of these veins contained 3 concentric tunica: tunica intima, tunica media and tunica adventitia. The tunica adventitia formed the thickest layer in the wall. On the basis of their histological structure, these veins were classified as large, medium, small veins and venules.
