Abstract

Mobini, B. 2010. Relationship of characteristics of the proventriculus and gizzard with body weight in the Ross broiler chicken. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 38: 271–272.

To study relationship of the morphometric characteristics of proventriculus and gizzard with bird's body weight, 100 Ross broiler chickens were divided into five age groups: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 d. The following parameters of stomachs were recorded: the proventriculus length (PL), width (PWi) and weight (PW), gizzard length (GL), width (GWi) and weight (GW), both stomachs combined length (PGL) and weight (PGW) with relation to the birds' body weight (BW). All the stomach parameters were highly correlated with body weight.
