Abstract

The results of the turbulent flow measurements in an open channel flow over transitionally rough beds using an ADV are presented in this paper. The turbulence characteristics across the flow depth were quantified by measuring the time averaged velocity components, turbulent intensity components and turbulent stresses. The characterization of higher-order velocity moments and the coherent structures of the flow are also presented. The obtained results are compared with the values for smooth and rough beds reported in literature.
