Examining Teachers’ Value Perceptions According to Different Variables

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to determine teachers’ perceptions of value based on different variables. In the research, 40 items scale was employed, as a means of data collection including “Portrait Values Scale”. This research, conducted in 12 high schools in Kadikoy, Istanbul was designed to investigate 357 teachers of high school who participated in the study. While examining the process of datum through the SPSS statistics package program, descriptive statistical techniques were used. With regards to the teachers’ value perception, the teachers considered “security” and “stimulation” value dimensions more important than other values. When the relationship between the value dimensions and the independent variables were examined, there was a significant difference between the gender, age and seniority as well as no difference in “branch” variable. It was recommended that teachers should be more proficient in their practices in the education process to ensure that students get universal values.
