An Examination of the Factors That Contribute to Teacher Candidates’ Attitudes towards Teaching Profession in Various Aspects

 

Abstract

The purpose of the present research is to examine the factors that contribute to teacher candidates’ attitudes towards teaching profession in multiple aspects. The study uses screening model. In determining attitudes, “Teaching Profession Attitudes Scale” was used. The sample consists of 849 teacher candidates studying at the faculty of education at various universities. Findings show that students of faculty of education develop positive attitudes towards teaching quite above average. While significant differences in attitudes towards teaching profession were found in terms of the variables of gender, level of family income, and father’s educational level; no significant difference was found in terms of mother’s educational level.
