Analysis of inventory models with ramp type demand

Abstract

We study the inventory model of Mandal and Pal that published in 1998 of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Mathematics. Their paper is one of pioneer works for the inventory model with ramp type demand. Based on their paper, several papers had extended their paper to more generalized setting to develop more practical inventory models with ramp or trapezoidal demands. However, some questionable results in their original work did not discussed and revised in those previous papers. The purpose of this paper is threefold. First, we point out those questionable results in Mandal and Pal. Second, we provide an alternative method to simplify their computations. Third, we discuss the comparison between the inventory model and its approximated model.
