An efficient measurement algorithm for tracking frequency variation in power systems

Abstract

This paper presents a novel measurement algorithm based on the Prony method (PM) to tracking frequency variation in power systems. The measurement algorithm, namely averaged Prony method (APM), is expected to be implemented in the synchronized phasor measurement for obtained a real-time measurement. A experimental example which simulate transient swing operations in power system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the averaged Prony method.
