Test of fit for the Rayleigh distribution in ranked set sampling

Pages 901-915 | Received 01 Oct 2015, Published online: 03 Jan 2018

Abstract

In this work, goodness-of-fit test for the Rayleigh distribution using ranked set sampling (RSS) and its multistage variation is studied. Through extensive Monte Carlo simulations, powers of the tests are compared with the competitor test based on simple random sampling (SRS). The results show the preference of RSS based tests. Moreover, further gain in power can be made by increasing the sampling effort.
