Abstract

Cryptanalysis is used not only to break the code but also to find the weakness in the algorithm. This useful technique helps to strengthen the security systems. The weaknesses may be found by examining the correlation between plaintext, key and ciphertext. With similar intention, Bitsum attack is developed to check the robustness of block ciphers. We have conducted this attack in order to find a correlation between Bitsum of Plaintext, Key and Ciphertext. In this paper we are presenting the data collected after implementing some of the block ciphers with respect to Bitsum Attack. We have analysed this data with Software Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). We have checked the correlation between confusion and diffusion properties of the ciphers as well.
