Light-weighted cryptographic algorithms for energy efficient applications

Abstract

Despite of increasing awareness about information security after the digitization movement and ransomware attack, small business and the general public who perform digital transactions are being attacked. Cryptography has an important place in Security as it works on the data rather than the machine or the network. Data is being transmitted through whichever way, it can be hidden and kept safe by using the right kind of Cryptographic algorithms. But apart from security the pervasive computing and embedded systems create a huge possibility for small and light weighted algorithms, specific applications like WSN need such mechanisms like data aggregation, light-weighted cryptography to enhance the lifetime of the network [1], underwater WSN [2]. In this paper, the need and comparison of light weight cryptographic algorithms is discussed.
