Abstract
The brown algae Nizamuddinia zanardinii was collected from Oman Gulf (the Chabahar region). The hydro-distilled essential oil of the mentioned brown algae was analyzed by Gas chromatography and Gas chromatography-Mass spectroscopy. Fifteen compounds were identified, of which 7, 10, 13-hexadecatrienoic acid methyl ester (41.8 %) was characterized as the main constituent, followed by hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (19.3 %), n-heneicosane (3.6 %) and 7, 10-hexadecadienoic acid methyl ester (3.4 %). There was also found some terpenes, β-elemene, trans-β-farnesene and β-ionone together with some phthalates in the oil of N. zanardinii for the first time.
