A GC-MS Study: Identification of the Essential Oil Compositions of Clerodendrum viscosum Vent Flower

Abstract

This study was to identify the essential oil compositions of the flowers of Clerodendrum viscosum Vent by hydro distillation. Twenty three compounds representing 96.24 % of the total essential oils were identified by GC-MS technique where antisal 1a (21.19 %), β-cubebene (11.86 %), tyranton (11.08 %), 2-trans-β-ocimene (9.44 %), 3-allyl methoxy phenol (7.75 %) and 4H-1, 3-oxazin (7.45 %) etc. were the major constituents.
