Calculation errors in bibliometrics : The case of CAGR

Abstract

In this short communication, growth rate calculation errors in bibliometric studies are discussed and demonstrate how to avoid such errors and cross verify the calculated CAGR value with the data. Results show that all the seventeen articles studied project the CAGR value either with positive or negative. With this background, a demonstration is given with two samples to avoid such errors. Based on the results, it is concluded that the errors occurred mainly due to misunderstandings of the formula.
