Abstract

Scientometrics, an international journal focuses on quantitative aspects of the Science of Science, Communication in Science and Science Policy. Indian authors’ contributions in the Scientometrics journal have been mapped to identify the authorship pattern and their scholarly communication behavior. During 1990 to 2017, Indian authors have published 208 articles including 29 international collaborative articles having avg. citations of 12.86 per article. The results have been critically studied on various aspects, namely, year wise, collaboration, authorship, productive institutions, leading authors, collaborating countries, popular keywords and citation. Further, different indices like h-index, A-index, i10-index and g-index have also been applied to determine the scholarly impact of publications. The highest numbers of articles are two-authored and the avg. authors per paper are 2.27. In addition, B.M. Gupta, the notable information scientist is the most prolific author and Belgium is the most productive foreign collaborating nation. The study proposes that the leading institutes like NISTADS, NISCAIR should start short-term courses in this area for enhancing capacity building and research performance of the Indian bibliometricians so that more quality papers may be produced in the thrust area.
