Abstract

A brief review of coherent optical processing of images is presented. Different operations that can be easily performed on remote sensing imagery using coherent optical systems are described. The merits of the optical processing over the currently-used digital processing techniques bave been indicated. The advantages of both these techniques can be combined in suitable hybrid systems.
