Abstract
A close look into different aspects of regulation of a transformer reveals a few facts which may arouse certain interest to the reader to make him ponder over it. Also, the exact expression without allowing for any approximation is derived and the results are compared with the popular approximate expression with the help of an example.

Gautam Sarkar
Gautam Sarkar born in 1953, got his BTech in Applied Physics in 1975 and M Tech degrees in 1977. His specialisation was in Electrical Machine & Power System. He joined as research assistant in the year 1979 in the Department of Applied Physics, Calcutta University and as lecturer in the same department in 1985. He obtained his PhD (Tech) degree in 1991 and became Senior Lecturer in the same year. In 1997, he became Reader in the same Department.
He has published about twenty eight research papers in national and international journals. His research interests are in the areas or: Block pulse operational technique applied to control system analysis and design, microprocessor and computer aided design and control of electrical machines, and fuzzy logic application to electrical systems.
Anish Deb
Anish Deb born in 1951, got his B Tech Applied Physics in 1974 and M Tech degrees in 1976. His specialisation was in Electrical Machine & Power System. He joined as Lecturer in the year 1983 in the Department of Applied Physics, Calcutta University and as Reader in the same department in 1990. He obtained his PhD (Tech) degree in 1990.
He has published about thirty eight research papers in national and international journals. His research interests are presently in the areas of: Walsh and Block pulse operational technique applied to control system analysis and design, microprocessor and computer aided design and control of electrical machines, and fuzzy logic.
He is a Life Fellow of the IETE and Life Member of IE (India).
