Accounting Academics and Research in Accounting: Practitioners’ Views

Pages 41-55 | Published online: 03 Jun 2015

Abstract

This paper investigates the opinion of accounting practitioners regarding academic accountants and research conducted by academics. Academics are generally viewed favourably by practitioners although there is the view that they would not make good practising accountants. Research by academics is considered to be valuable and of benefit to the profession but academics are not considered to be active researchers.
