A ROLE FOR NARRATOLOGY IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF A SECOND LANGUAGE

Pages 99-117 | Published online: 23 Jan 2012

Abstract

Insights gathered from the field of narratology can be fruitfully integrated with second language acquisition theories and educational psychology to provide a useful mechanism for explaining and facilitating second language classroom interaction. Although traditionally reserved for explaining the reader's interaction with narrative texts, a broadening of the concept narrative text could result in narratology also being used to explain and facilitate second language production.
