Abstract

This paper proposes a practical engineering procedure for introducing the Computer-Integrated Manufacturing System into the enterprise in Taiwan. The concept of MODEL, PROCEDURE and ENABLER has been incorporated into the developing process respectively, to meet the requirements of preciseness, systemization and applicability simultaneously. The development of the PROCEDURE was divided into two stages: the analysis stage and the design stage. The IDEFO software was utilized to perform the activity-bred analysis first, and then the required output figures and tables were used to design the PROCEDURE. Finally, the PERT chart was introduced to construct the planning process. The required human resource, costs and time in the planning of a CIM system can be indicated in the PERT chart, which can also serve for the execution and control purposes.
