The aim of this paper is twofold: first to give an analysis of Melito's narration of the Creation and Fall of man as this is presented in parr. 47–56 of the homily; secondly to look briefly into the nature of Adam's κληρoνoμία to his children and whether this concept of Melito is related to that of original sin as expressed in later Augustinian teaching.
