Mythological imagery in Prudentius: Geographical localities

Pages 117-136 | Published online: 06 Jun 2018

Abstract

This article discusses Prudentius’ use of Graeco-Roman mythological localities as imagery to create a Christian version and vision. It is at once noticeable that he does not avoid such pagan material, or simply use it as learned literary reference, but in fact transforms and fuses it into new poetic and religious expression.
