Abstract
This article focuses on Jerome’s attack on his opponents in Letter 57. He accused them on various charges, such as bribery, theft and the invasion of privacy. In short, he accused them of a total lack of integrity. Striking similarities between Jerome’s situation and two other cases, (a lawsuit between the Motor Industry Fund Administrators and Janit, a property developer, and the Hansie Cronjé cricket scandal) are pointed out Jerome’s arguments in the third and fourth paragraphs of Letter 57 are carefully analysed and it is shown that his arguments are still relevant today.
