Abstract

Concentrations in the range 1 ppm‐100 ppm of Tween 80, BP 1100X and Slickgone LT2 in sea water are shown to decrease both the food consumption of the shrimp, Crangon crangon, and the ability of the animal to select the arm of a Y‐maze which contains food extract. The ability to locate food is largely recovered within four hours of return of the animals to clean sea water after prior exposure to 10 ppm Tween 80, 10 ppm BP 1100X or 10 ppm Slickgone LT2.
