Preparation of radioiodinated 131I-Synkol (2-methyl-6-hydroxy-1.4-Naphtoquinone) for possible use as a tumour localising agent

Pages 85-91 | Published online: 13 Aug 2008

Abstract

Some of te physical and chemical properties of 2-methyl-6-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (Synkol) are described. Methods have been studied for labelling this compound with iodine-131. Iodination with iodine monochloride under carefully controlled conditions, followed by purification, has been found to give a satisfactory product. Methods of high specific activity labelling, using chloramine-T, as well as by electrolysis of iodide in presence of Synkol, have also be studied.
