A new compound, 1- O -methyl-6- O -caffeoyl- g - d -glucopyranose ( 1 ), has been isolated from the aerial part of G. rivale , together with five known compounds, cecropiacic acid ( 2 ), niga-ichgoside ( 3 ), gallic acid ( 4 ), 1- o -protocatechuoylglucose ( 5 ), and sucrose ( 6 ). Their structures were elucidated by spectral methods and chemical reactions.
