Abstract

Two new alkaloidal glycosides, canthin-6-one-5-o-β-d-xylopyranosyl- (1 → 6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (1) and canthin-6-one-1-o-β-d-xylopyranosyl- (1 → 6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (2) named ailantcanthinosides A and B, were isolated from the root bark of Ailanthus altissima. Their structures were elucidated by one-and two-dimensional 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FAB-MS, HRESI-MS spectra and chemical methods.
