The Concept Of The State In Australian Industrial Relations Theory

Pages 75-98 | Published online: 10 Apr 2013

Abstract

The Australian industrial relations literature has largely ignored theoretical and analytical explanations of state activity in favour of descriptive accounts of state form and behaviour. This paper demonstrates this feature of the literature prior to arguing the necessity of recognising the state as a factor within the broader political economy of industrial relations. Several features of a state-cognisant framework of industrial relations theorising are identified.
