We are immensely grateful to the editors of Continuum for squeezing us into their 2012 schedule and for offering us support throughout the editorial process. In particular, we would like to thank Greg Noble and Panizza Allmark for making the idea of a special issue possible. The idea for this collection of essays emerged from a colloquium, Indian Cinemas/Oceanic Assemblages, co-organized by Macquarie University's India Research Centre and the Indian Ocean and South Asia Research Network, University of Technology, Sydney, in November 2010. We would like to acknowledge Cornelia Betzler and Sharon Davidson for their hard work and efficiency in the organization of the colloquium. We are much obliged to colleagues at Macquarie University as well as University of Technology, Sydney, for their support and participation in the colloquium. As editors, we are enormously grateful to all the referees who participated in the process of the development of each paper. We are beholden to Sharon Davidson for her careful and meticulous copy-editing skills. And finally, we thank each author for their patience with the editorial process, and for making this special issue a wonderful collection of essays.
