BOOK REVIEW

Spaces of solidarity: Karen activism in the Thailand–Burma borderlands

by Rachel Sharples, Berghahn Books, 2020, 182pp., $135.00/£99.00 (hardback)

Notes

1. The country is commonly referred to as Myanmar; however, many Karen activists prefer the term Burma since they do not recognise the authority of the military state. Sharples uses the name ‘Burma’ for this reason. For consistency, this review adopts the same terminology.
