Notes
It is commonly accepted that the first Labor hegemony began with T.J. Ryan's accession as Premier in 1915 and continued until Vince Gair's desertion of the party and its defeat in 1957, with only one interregnum: the conservative Moore government, 1929–32. This was followed by the Coalition—and later National Party—hegemony, 1957–89.
