Professional Development: An integrated strategy at the University of New South Wales

Pages 165-176 | Published online: 07 Jul 2006

Abstract

This paper will examine the common, segregated approach to staff development adopted by many universities, noting the assumptions and the narrow focus which this approach promotes. It will outline a number of principles that inform an alternative approach adopted by the Professional Development Centre at the University of New South Wales. It will consider a range of possible strategies for the implementation of an integrated approach, and discuss some of the issues and dilemmas which arise in the attempt.
